The Skyline Series Darryl Jones Signature Model DJ-5 features the same “updated classic” tone as our DJ-4, but is combined with the legendary Lakland 35” scale – the reason all Lakland 5s have such fabulous bottom tone. When you talk about clarity, tautness and tone in regards to the low B, you’re talking about our passion! Graphite reinforcement bars are added for tonal stability and the dual vintage voiced single coil Lakland pickups are hand fabricated and wound with exact tolerances in our Chicago shop.

Looks, ergonomics, playability, and that big bottom tone make this one of Lakland’s most popular and longstanding models.

Seen on the world’s largest stages, the 55-02 has an active punch that will drive your sound clearly through any mix, with ‘best in class’ tonality for a versatile and refined fit for any playing situation.

• Features 35″ scale neck for better B string tone and tight, deep bottom
• Features Lakland hand-wound LH3 pickups and onboard preamp
• Available in Deluxe and Custom models

The LH3 pickups (wound in our shop in Chicago) and onboard preamp are the same components you’ll find in our legendary USA Series 55-94. (powered by a single 9-volt battery that can be changed by removing a simple snap-on battery cover – no screws to lose!) Internal dip switches let you select the midrange boost/cut frequency.

The neck is the same 35” scale, profile and spec as our USA series 55-94 which has won over legions of professionals because of its great feel, string spacing and most importantly, a B string with tight punchy clarity that lives with the other 4 strings in perfect harmony.

Deluxe Model – The 55-02 Deluxe adds a Quilted Maple veneer natural finish top as well as an Indian Laurel fingerboard.

Custom Model – All the same great attributes as the 55-02 but now available in the following custom color and fingerboard options:

• Pearl White with matching headstock color and a bound Maple fingerboard with pearl block inlays.
• Ice Blue Metallic with matching headstock color and an un-bound Maple fingerboard with Pearl and Abalone block inlays.

This is the fix for your tone jones. If you know Darryl’s discography, then you know he plays with the heavyweights; Miles Davis, Sting, Madonna, and, oh yeah… The Rolling Stones. The man plays a lot of bass – and needs a lot of bass to play.

• Powerful and passive single-coil pickups specially designed by Lakland
• Pearl block inlays in a Rosewood and Maple fingerboards, (Black Blocks on Maple/Natural Combo
• Hipshot Bass Xtender (D-Tuner) tuners available

The Skyline Series Darryl Jones Signature bass looks similar to our 44-60 model, but has more curvaceous contours and dramatic cutaways that adds to its vintage styling. Darryl’s bass is fitted with a pair of passive single coil pickups specially designed by Lakland. Three knobs control the tone: Bridge Volume, Neck Volume and Tone. Pearl block inlays and white binding are standard on Indian Laurel fingerboard models, Matching headstock color is standard. Hipshot bass Xtender tuners available.

SKYLINE SERIES 44-60 CUSTOM

The Skyline 44-60 (Vintage J) Custom version of the 44-60 Standard adds block inlays and binding on Rosewood fingerboard models. The Ice Blue Metallic model features Maple unbound fingerboard, pearl blocks with abalone corners, and matching headstock color.

The Skyline 44-60 Custom shares many of the same specifications as our USA Series 44-60 bass, and is outfitted with the same passively delicious Lakland J-style pickups – fabricated by hand and wound with precision at our custom shop in Chicago. Players love the comfy 1.5” taper of the Skyline Series 44-60 neck.

SKYLINE SERIES 44-51

Our Skyline 44-51 shares the same slab body aesthetics of the high-end USA Series 44-51 and the same Lakland hybrid pickup as the US made 44-51M.

The 44-51 captures the rich and defined power of those early basses that revolutionized the four string low-end world. The tone and power of a well-preserved vintage instrument with flawless Lakland fretwork and neck refinements make this another of our modern classics.
